Key Expectations:
- Act as the principal legal advisor to the CEO and senior leadership on strategic and business-critical matters.
- Lead commercial contracting across vendor and raw material sourcing, including imports and supplier agreements, and negotiate high-value, complex agreements.
- Define and oversee litigation, arbitration and dispute strategy, working with external counsel.
- Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance and corporate governance across plants and functions.
- Oversee IPR, labour and employment legal matters, and legal audit oversight with external audit partners.
- Build policies, SOPs and a Delegation of Authority framework, and report on legal risk to senior stakeholders.
- Lead and develop the legal team (Manager Legal and Legal Officer) and build the function for scale.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- LLB (mandatory); LLM or MBL preferred, ideally from a leading law school, with 20+ years of legal experience, including in-house leadership in manufacturing.
- Strong depth in commercial contracts and litigation, with working knowledge of corporate law, statutory compliance, ethics, auditing and IPR.
- Experience in automotive or auto components (Tier 1) is mandatory.
- Proven ability to handle complex contracts and disputes as the go-to legal leader.
- Candidates based in Chennai or South India preferred. Fluency in Tamil is an advantage.
